Sperling & Kupfer
Sperling & Kupfer, founded in 1899 by two German booksellers, is one of the oldest publishing houses in Milan. In the 1980s the Sperling & Kupfer imprint was incorporated into the Mondadori Group and in the same period Sperling Paperback catalogue was created which now has over 1,000 titles.
While maintaining the fundamental characteristics of the company - an international spirit and a particular focus on current affairs - Sperling & Kupfer has developed as its main lines of production fiction, non-fiction, economics, manuals and popular science.
In the fiction area Sperling & Kupfer has a range of consolidated authors such as Stephen King, Mary Higgins Clark, Sergio Bambaren, Danielle Steel and Tom Rob Smith and, among the Italians, Sveva Casati Modignani, Maria Daniela Raineri and Salvo Sottile. The company's important non-fiction catalogue, meanwhile, features authors such as Luca Telese, Renata Pisu, Eduardo Galeano, Gianni Minà, Valeria Della Valle, Antonio Caprarica, Pietro Grasso and Melania Rizzoli.
Frassinelli and Mondadori Informatica are two imprints of Sperling & Kupfer.
Frassinelli, founded in 1931 by Carlo Frassinelli, is known for its ability to diffuse the works of foreign authors, many of them young writers, that are already established abroad but still relatively unknown in Italy.
Consolidating its traditional offer of quality literature, Frassinelli publishes new Italian and foreign fiction with the aim of maintaining the high level of its catalogue.
Among the most well known names associated with Frassinelli are Toni Morrison, Nuruddin Farah, Meir Shalev, Valerio Varesi, Giorgio Todde, Maria Rosa Cutrufelli, Philippe Delerm, Salvatore Veca, Alda Merini, Clarissa Pinkola Estés and Nicholas Sparks.
