Mondadori Franchising
The Mondadori Group operates in the retail sector through two companies: Mondadori Retail and Mondadori Franchising.
Mondadori Franchising is responsible for the development of franchised bookstores across the country that trade under the Libreria Mondadori and Gulliver Librerie fascia, which expand the book market in small and medium-sized locations. The chain now has more than 212 outlets (March 2008). In 2004, Mondadori Franchising also launched the Edicolè project, a franchise formula for newsstands and the sale of newspapers, and magazines, as well as books, stationery, games, CDs and DVDs. The Edicolè formula also has the advantage of delivering books to residential areas too small to viably sustain even small bookstores. The Edicolè chain now has 140 outlets (March 2008) and an extensive development plan is in place for the coming years.
