The Mondadori Group is Italy's undisputed leader in the book market, with a production that aims to recognise and respond to the demands of a wide-range of readers, in line with the objectives of the publishing house since its founding: to encourage the spread of reading with quality offer in all areas, from literary masterpieces to books for pleasure and entertainment. An absolute cultural openness, a broad catalogue and continuous innovation in its editorial lines allow the Mondadori Group to continuously strengthen its image, also among new generations of readers.

Alongside the consolidation of its editorial products, traditionally the company's core business - works by contemporary authors, classics, paperbacks and children's books - the Book Division of the Mondadori Group operates in sectors that continue to offer notable development opportunities: mass-market titles, art books, educational publishing, the management of museum concessions and the organisation and management of exhibitions. At the same time the Group aims to reinforce its presence abroad, in particular in Spanish-speaking markets, where it operates through the subsidiary Random House Mondadori.

Since January 2010, the management of the Book Division has been organised across two principal areas: Trade Books and Educational, with, respectively, Riccardo Cavallero and Antonio Baravalle as the General Managers.
Gian Arturo Ferrari, who ran the Book Division from 1997 to 2009, since January 2010 has supported the Group's Chief Executive, Maurizio Costa, in the elaboration of editorial development strategies for both the domestic and foreign markets.
