Gian Arturo Ferrari has supported since January 2010 the Group's Chief Executive, Maurizio Costa, in the elaboration of editorial development strategies for both the domestic and foreign markets, after running the Book Division from 1997 to 2009.

Born in Gallarate (VA) in 1944 and with a degree in classics from the University of Pavia, Ferrari, from 1974 to 1989, was a university teacher as Professor of the History of Science and then Associate Professor of Scientific Thought at the University of Pavia.
He has also accumulated a range of experience in the publishing field, working as publisher's assistant at Boringhieri. Ferrari subsequently became head of Books at Rizzoli before moving to Mondadori in 1997.

In October 2009, Ferrari was also appointed Chairman of the Centre for Books and the Promotion of Reading established by the Italian Government.
